Iโm visiting Medellin this October for a month and was wondering whatโs the best way to find a place there.
Iโm looking at El Pabelado, but on Airbnb itโs all like $1500, when I know the real rent price there for a 1br should be $600.
Anyone can recommend some locals so I wonโt get scammed/overpay?
Yes, Whatโs you whatโs app? i will forward there. she only works in poblado though. is that where you want to stay? the facebook groups are pretty helpful too for medellin.
@danayobst Thanks & sorry for not seeing your reply. We are in Medellin now & used www.theapartmentmedellin.com for our Poblado stay near Santa Fe mall. No bargain & the keys were not awaiting us as promised after 19 hours in transit on a Sunday morning, but theyโve been responsive with everything since. Hope your first Christmas in Medellin has gone well!
we used a local agent and got a 2 bedroom in poblado for 1000/month (weโre a family). you must speak spanish though to use a local agent. there are also facebook groups with rooms and real estate.

Found a nice 2BR apartment in Envigado on VRBO. It is $1300 for 5 weeks. For groceries and other expenses, it is pretty cheap here. WiFi is everywhere.

We ended up sharing in Medellin and lived in a pretty sweet apartment in Envigado - which I actually preferred to Poblado. If you want to share, let me know and Iโll send you the link of the place we stayed 
You can also check out CompartoApto - which the locals use to rent out apartments (again - probably more useful if youโre interested in sharing) Enjoy Medellin!
you can get a place for $600 but not in Poblado if you want a place to yourself. Youโll be maybe in laureles, but most likely even further out. when people talk about how cheap medellin is theyโre usually, in my experience, living with multiple people.
Agreed with @wanderingdev. $1300 is about what we paid when @lognaturel and I were there last month. How do you know the real rent price should be $600?
It is indeed a bit expensive in Poblado, and if you are just staying here for around a month - I think that is about what you should expect. As always, we had some luck negotiating rates on AirBnB - and the COP is weak.
do you want it all to yourself or is shared ok? not shared, thatโs about right for a 1 BR in poblado. if youโre willing to share, I can send you a link to a nice place in a great location and heโll give you local pricing.

Background:
Iโm an EU national IT specialist, recently decided to become a digital nomad. I just left my permanent job in Germany and opened a UK based LTD (for a better taxation) to start a new career as remote working IT contractor. I also want to become a UK resident and pay personal income tax there BUT I donโt want to rent/buy a place because I have no interest in physically living in the UK, as a nomad I will be traveling abroad 100% of the time.
So I just need a UK address where Iโm registered as a resident and could receive mail, but I would never actually be there. I could rent a place and keep it empty but that would be a total waste of money.
Question:
How do I find somebody who could give me an official residence at his/her address and keep my name on the door? Iโm ok with paying a reasonable monthly fee for this โserviceโ (but not as high as a rent), and give assurance in whatever form that I will never pretend to physically live there. I have no close friends in the UK to ask for this favor, and trying to propose this to a random landlord would be just weird since they are not familiar with the needs of a digital nomad.
Maybe you guys can suggest me somebody who understand the situation and want to make some extra cash every month to pay the bills? Iโm ready to meet in person, provide full proof of identity or any other document, and to make a written agreement that gives the landlord the freedom to cancel this โsituationโ at any time.
Note:
This is NOT for tax evasion, itโs the opposite! I WANT to pay full tax as UK resident, I just donโt want to waste money on a rent which I will literally never use.
I would be very grateful for any advice!

For those constrained by their businessโ time zone, how do you manage this?
My home office is in Los Angeles โ though I could swing anything in Central/South America, Iโm looking at going to Lisbon or Chiang Mai for a bit. Both of them are >=8hrs difference potentially wreaking havoc on the work + social life + sleep split. This is a common question for nomads but there doesnโt seem to be a lot of posting on the site about it.
What do you guys think? Any Americans working in Asia or Europe that does it well? I could likely negotiate with my supervisor to work in Eastern standard if I was in Lisbon/Europe, which wouldnโt be too much of a stretch. Noon 'til 8pm. A bit more manageable than Chiang Mai or Bali.

My wife and I are both nomadic performers traveling the world full time for the last 10 years, we tend to stay in a place for around 3 months then move on. Do nomads like to travel together? I mean, not in each otherโs pockets, but look for accomodation together, meet with each other daily or regularly, help out in new cities, motivate/inspire each other in the business? 
Iโve done nomad lifestyle in the past in 2009/2014 and this time I want to collaborate and support with other people, each on their own mission. I love this nomad endeavour but to be honest I admit it can be quite time-consuming and lonely.
