Hotel Tracking Website

by @yl_ksa 7yr  | 3 comments

I was wondering if anyone knows a website to keep track of the hotels I have stayed in, I really like to keep track of everything. I have a couple of websites to track each flight I took and was wanted to see if there is something similar but for hotels.

Have you tried TripIt? I use it to keep track of both hotel stays and flights

The OTA you use to book your hotel would have a history of your bookings. I also use my Tripadvisor reviews as a way to keep track of my past stays.

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- ๐Ÿ›‚ Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- ๐ŸŽ“Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- ๐Ÿ› Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife 3yr 3 years ago  | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 3yr 3 years ago  | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara 3yr 3 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Winter is coming and Iโ€™m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

Tracking expenses when prepaying for stuff

by @kathrynoh 5yr 5 years ago  | 7 comments

I was wondering what systems/apps etc people use for tracking their living expenses? I try to keep records but find that some months I prepay for a lot of future expenses (eg. Airbnb, flights etc) while other months I spend little because everything has already been made.

I guess what I need to know is my actual spending in a month, regardless of when I actually spent the money but also the cash flow for each month.

Is there a website for Career Counselling for Digital Nomads

by @abhidmallik 7yr 7 years ago  | 0 comments

For digital nomads, there are few specific platforms for specific info like-
Finances and Investments - NomadCapitalist
Dating - Nomad Soulmates
Travel - Digital nomad travel mag

I am a budding digital nomad and looking forward to going completely online and serve as a digital marketer. Is there a site dedicated to career counselling of nomads? i.e. which offers guidance on selection of online courses followed by awareness on various remote job sites and freelancing platforms.

Kindly advise!

Are there guesthouses or hotels with fast internet in Vientiane, Laos?

in Vientiane , Laos by @walkertraylor 8yr 8 years ago  | 0 comments

Does anyone have experience staying somewhere with fast internet in Vientiane, Laos? I am going for only a few days for a visa run, and in the past I found decent places with barely adequate internet for checking email sometimes, but had to work from coffee shops. Would be nicer to be able to work from the hotel / guesthouse and work in the evening.

Alternatively, does anyone have experience with Laotian 3G/4G providers, how well do they actually work, which provider is good, etc. Thanks!

Starting a SaaS website with paid service -- Best practices for setting up payment collection? (from US)

by @dedalux 8yr 8 years ago  | 4 comments

Over the past few months I started doing javascript development work and Iโ€™m trying to build projects for my portfolio. Iโ€™m working on a productivity tool that would have a paid tier for users and Iโ€™m not sure about the best practices for setting up this up for myself in terms of tax efficiency and ways to incorporate.

Right now itโ€™s only me who works on this and I project a modest user base in the beginning with perhaps a few hundred dollars of revenues that I would like to expand ideally. Iโ€™m looking at services like Stripe which has an option for individuals without the need for incorporation.

Meanwhile Iโ€™d like to reach to a point where I can hire some people to develop with me and run operations if thereโ€™s more steady cash flow coming in. Fundraising is also of course an option on the table. I donโ€™t foresee a lot of potential for legal liabilities with this project but Iโ€™d like to be personally protected. Iโ€™d Hence I think incorporation is inevitable down the road.

Iโ€™m not sure if I should incorporate as early as possible, since there is some costs associated with this. But if I were to do this, with US status, I am wondering what should I be looking for to ensure that I can run this well in the long run. If any nomads have had experience with the business side of a personal start-up project Iโ€™d love to hear your opinion and experiences.

Does anybody else change hotels everyday?

by @waylandchin 8yr 8 years ago  | 44 comments

I work at night so I have free time during the day. Every day, I would change hotels. This lets me experience a different part of town every day. At around 1pm, I would check out, then load up the hotels.com app and find the next 3-Star hotel under $40. Then Iโ€™d grab an Uber and make my way to the new hotel. And then repeat the next day until Iโ€™ve lived in every 3-Star hotel within my budget in the city. Does anybody else do this?

Why do nomads like working out of cafes? Hotel rooms seem better?

by @normaldude 9yr 9 years ago  | 29 comments

When youโ€™re working out of a wifi cafeโ€ฆ

  1. A random idiot could spill a drink on your laptop.
  2. Thieves are roaming around, waiting to steal your stuff when youโ€™re looking the other way.
  3. Noisy environment to make phone calls.
  4. If you want to go to the bathroom, you either have to bring everything with you (and someone could steal your seat), or risk having stuff stolen.
  5. Canโ€™t take a nap.

Seems like it would make more sense to get most of your laptop work done in your hotel room, and then walk around town with only your smartphone in your pocket.
