Which regions do you recommend to be in which months?

by @salman 8yr  | 1 comment

If you were thinking in terms of broad nomad-friendly regions (South East Asia, Eastern Europe, Balkans, South America, Middle East, India, โ€ฆ), considering the high-seasons, monsoons, weather, etc. which regions do you recommend to be in which time of the year?

Iโ€™ll start with the obvious: Europe in June-September is lovely. Not too far south, though. For October-March, Iโ€™d go to Argentina or Chile.

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- ๐Ÿ›‚ Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- ๐ŸŽ“Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- ๐Ÿ› Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife 3yr 3 years ago  | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 3yr 3 years ago  | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara 3yr 3 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Winter is coming and Iโ€™m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

Anybody around Europe over the next few months?

by @paulrose 7yr 7 years ago  | 9 comments

Hi All

Soโ€ฆ a few months ago when I was in Asia, for some reason I decided that it was gonna be too hot over the summer months and I wanted to mix it up with a few months touring Europe. So I had the idea to buy and RV and drive round for a few months.

Meet Teagan

Itโ€™s taken a few months going through the process of getting my license to drive the RV, because itโ€™s so large it wasnโ€™t covered on my standard driving license. Add to that, I had some solar panels fitted for unlimited power, and a massive satellite dish for internet wherever I go.

Iโ€™ve now got my ferry booked out of the UK for September 11th and at the moment have no plans past the first few weeks.

Has anyone on here done anything similar before? Any places recommended, or anyone around Europe over the next few months?

Iโ€™m doing about 3 months worth before heading to Vegas for NYE and around the states for a few months after that before back to Asia for a bit.

Where should we live in Colombia for six months?

in Colombia by @supernoveau 8yr 8 years ago  | 2 comments

Hola!

My girlfriend and I are working and slow travelling through Central and South America. We usually live in each location for around three to six months. For instance, weโ€™ve been living on Lake Atitlan in Guatemala for nearly six months now.

Weโ€™re planning our next location in Central and South America to rent for six months and weโ€™re hearing great things about Colombia.

Weโ€™d like to live in a safe and quiet natural location with friendly locals, a comfortable climate and have access to quality produce (food).

Can anyone recommend where we can live? Any tips on rentals would also be appreciated.

Thanks!

Anyone familiar with fluentin3months?

by @erikbenjamin 8yr 8 years ago  | 7 comments

I was wondering if there are people familiar with the website fluentin3months.com? Benny Lewis, founder of Fluent in 3 Months, says that this is a faster and smarter way to learn a language. With language hacking, you can learn a new language in months (3) or years Instead.

In my case Iโ€™m looking for an English course that allows me to communicate better in English :map: :globe_with_meridians: Is this what you think I need?

Penang or Kuala Lumpur for three months?

in Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia by @lena 8yr 8 years ago  | 8 comments

Hi!
We are currently planing to go to Malaysia for three months, but are unsure whether Penang or KL is the best fit for us.

Generally, we donโ€™t like big cities (e.g. Bangkok) too much, but we need to get some work done and need good wifi and a place that is easy to settle into. A modern, comfortable and private apartment for less than ยฑ2.500 MR is a requirement. Easy access to nature and good food (vegetarian) is more important than shopping or an active nightlife.

Any tips? Thanks for any help!

Before it was just a hobby but now Iโ€™m quite seriousโ€ฆany suggestions to go from 0 to employed in 6 months? Also I live in China.

How to find a room in Cluj-Napolca for 2 months?

in Cluj , Romania by @sharee32 9yr 9 years ago  | 3 comments

Hello!
I am considering to spend sometime in Cluj from around August. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to find an affordable room? Or maybe even have a spare room? It should be as cheap as possible, but I also donโ€™t need much. A bed and wifi are almost enoug. toilet and small kitchen would also be nice. Shared flat would also be fine.

Every hint is appreciated!

Where to stay in the USA for 6 months? Vegas, California? Something else?

in Cali , Colombia by @yesmad 9yr 9 years ago  | 21 comments

My girlfriend and I are Canadian nomads looking to spend 6 months (ideally) in the US this winter. Weโ€™re trying to figure out the best place to do so! The goal is to live somewhere nice and build up more savings and income.

Since weโ€™re in Montreal and sick of the brutal winters, we want somewhere warm. And since weโ€™re nomading, weโ€™re looking to stay as cheap as possible, but also comfortable. Weโ€™d like to do a short-term (furnished) rental as opposed to a hotel or room rental since weโ€™re a couple.

We also want to live somewhere nice enough, not in a dangerous area or anything like that. We like parks, shopping, farmerโ€™s markets, etc. Not too big on night life.

Ideally, weโ€™d like somewhere in California, but Iโ€™m not sure how realistic that is for our budget ($1500/month rent at the max).

As of now weโ€™ve also looked at Las Vegas, which seems on the more affordable end of the spectrum. Austin was also on our radar, but again, not sure how realistic that is for our budget.

The biggest problem we have is actually finding available rentals online! We need something furnished! Doing anything through Craigslist online is out, and I know most people will suggest AirBNB, but it seems rather inflated in price. Other than that, there seems to be only private websites that are just as difficult (or untrustworthy looking) as Craigslist.

Can anyone point us in the right direction? Where would you guys suggest in our situation? Anyone from Vegas/California/Austin that could point us in the right direction for furnished short-term housing?

This seems like a really great community! I hope someone out there can help us out!

What's the best visa strategy for US citizen staying in Bali for 5-6 months?

by @nihilista 9yr 9 years ago  | 4 comments

From what Iโ€™ve researched I can get a Visa on arrival and then extend that by another 60 days. (Is it around $60-70 for the original plus extension?)

But what about if I would like to plan for staying longer - should I get the 60 day visa that I can extend for 120 days?

Also, what is the process for extending the Visa? Do I need to leave the country to do so? In the first scenario, with the 30 day VOA and addโ€™l 30 day extension, is it possible to stay longer by leaving and then coming back? Is there a limit for how many days one needs to leave the country and how many times this process can be repeated in any given time period (i.e. a year)?

Thanks very much for any help / advice / information!

Which Indonesian visa is the most hassle-free for staying there for 6-12 months?

in Indonesia by @david 9yr 9 years ago  | 6 comments

Which Indonesian visa is the most hassle-free for staying there for 6-12 months? By hassle free I mean reasonably easy to obtain, not too expensive, and ideally without frequent renewals. I will arrive in Bali in April 2015.

The visas that come to mind are:

  • 1 year business visa (but the first stay can only be 60 days, any following stay as long as I want?)

  • Half-year sosial visa (but I have to renew monthly and cannot leave for a few days without an exit/re-entry permit?)

  • Tourist visa which I convert into a sosial visa (probably itโ€™s cheaper and more hassle-free to do the sosial right away before arrival?)

Which did you try, and which were easiest? Do I need a local invitation, and what is the easiest way to get one without getting into obligations?

Would anyone be so nice and invite me for a business visa? If yes please PM me, we can talk of course before you agree to help me out on this one.

What I want to do in Indonesia (starting in Bali) is surfing, looking into starting an online business, or โ€˜looking into investment opportunitiesโ€™ (if arriving on a business visa).

By the way, I have an EU passport.

As a British person, do I need a Visa to stay in Bulgaria for a few months?

in Bulgaria by @ag_designstudio 9yr 9 years ago  | 6 comments

This year I would to work for a few months in a different location taking my partner with me. Iโ€™m calling it a working holiday. Bulgaria is the place Iโ€™m thinking of starting this โ€œtrendโ€ I would like to do. I have read a lot of other peoples thoughts of it and I know a guy who I sort of worked with, He currently works around the world.

My question is as I am a British WordPress developer will I need a work visa or anything? All my work will be with clients back home. Iโ€™m fully booked up with projects for around 6 months - it grows each week.

Will my partner need any visa?

I have been looking at places to stay and the thought of working on a nice sunny balcony overlooking the sea really make me feel good.
