Do you have a travel hanger you like?

by @gnefkow 8yr  | 4 comments

Its been a little while since Iโ€™ve looked, but I wasnโ€™t able to find anything that had good ratings. When you do your laundry by hand, though, and there isnโ€™t always an iron around, it would be a nice thing to have. Obviously looking for something that:

  • is light weight
  • folds up somehow to have a small profile
  • I have kind of broad shoulders, so wide enough for my shirts.

What have you found that is either a good travel hanger or a good way to get around needing one?

Have you tried inflatable ones?

Over the years Iโ€™ve tried to up class my traveling wardrobe a bit, which is to say shirts with colors and pants that prefer to be ironed and hung. Itโ€™s never occurred to me to travel with my own hanger though.

Iโ€™ve largely given up on clothes that actually need to be ironed, favoring permeant press and wash and wear type stuff. Clothes that require ironing and hanging to not look like a disaster are just to hard to deal with and I wear them infrequently as a result.

I will say that finding hangers is easy. Only a few places Iโ€™ve stayed donโ€™t have by default, but asking for a couple they were always provided.

I gave up having nicely ironed clothes while I traveled a while ago, it made things a lot easier :slightly_smiling:
Saying that, some hostels offer a laundry service (or will know of a place/service near by) that can iron your clothes. You could also book an AirBnB with an Iron every time you want to do washing

Indeed. Iโ€™ve found that, if you ask politely enough, most hotels will have a laundry service (even the ones who donโ€™t officially offer the service will often sort something out). Usually very cheap, super easy, and your clothes comes back ironed and folded.

What features would you like to see on Nomad List?

by @levelsio 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear what you'd like me to build next on Nomad List, or any other product/feature feedback ideas you have.

It's been 6+ years now but I'm in this for the long term and with the boost remote work got last year it's even more exciting to work on Nomad List than ever.

Current roadmap is here: twitter.com/levelsio/status/1363204985488572417?s=20 and pbs.twimg.com/media/EusS9PKXEAUR8xp?format=jpg&name=4096x4096

The next products/features I have planned:

- ๐Ÿ›‚ Rebase: visa, residency and immigration services for remote workers

- ๐ŸŽ“Courses: learn the steps how to go remote and travel/relocate

- ๐Ÿ› Gov liaison: diplomacy services to the governments to help us lobby for nomads and for them to attract remote workers

Thanks a lot!

List of Visa/Residency Information in Table/Spreadsheet format?

by @innovatelife 3yr 3 years ago  | 2 comments

As part of signing up for this website I was hoping I would come across a list of Visa and/or Residency requirements by country ideally in a table format to assist with decision making. Does anybody recommend any other websites that might present the information in this format (or Google Spreadsheet)?

Most Walkable Neighborhood / City In The World ?

by @dannybooboo 3yr 3 years ago  | 1 comment

I love living in walkable areas of town. I can always find them. But now I'm wondering where in the world are the most walkable places? I'm imagining walk streets (no cars), zoning allowing both business and residential, parks or beaches ,etc.

Any nomads in Arizona, US?

in Netherlands by @info132 3yr 3 years ago  | 4 comments

Hi guys,

After the Netherlands, the Bay Area, Colorado and being on the van life for 8 months, I am now in Sedona, AZ with a few other digital nomads. We are sharing a home here and are wondering if there are more like minded people in the area.

We do a bunch of hikes and campouts in the northern of Arizona. If you would like to connect with us, please do so :)

Val

Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of?

in Germany by @clara 3yr 3 years ago  | 0 comments

Hi everybody. I live and work in Germany and want to go to Canary Islands for 6 months to work from there. I'm going to keep my current job, just change the "home" in the home office part of things. Are there any tax issues I have to be aware of? I was reading about becoming a residence after 183 days, thus having to pay taxes there plus my employer having to register there. Does anybody know how it works exactly? Thanks a lot!

Is anyone travelling right now?

by @viktor 3yr 3 years ago  | 3 comments

Winter is coming and Iโ€™m feeling the ache of travelling after being stuck in the same place since the Pandemic started. Wondering if anyone is travelling right now? If so, where are you currently located and how is the situation where you are?

What is digital nomad dating like?

by @suzannerose 6yr 6 years ago  | 9 comments

Hi everyone,

I am planning to start living a semi-nomadic lifestyle from the beginning of next year, probably spending around half my time on the road and half my time at home (but keeping an open mind).

I was just wondering what dating is like as a digital nomad? This is important to me. I am looking for a committed relationship, somebody to have adventures with. Monogamy is a must, but no rush for marriage, children etc.

In your experience, is this something lots of nomads are doing/ looking for? Or is it just a lot of casual sex and โ€œlocationshipsโ€?

Looking forward to hearing all about your experiences! Thank you everyone

Is it feasible to work in deep north of Canada ( in Inuvik) regarding wifi and the like?

in Canada by @albertocanada 7yr 7 years ago  | 1 comment

I want to volunteer at a Sledge dogs training school in the city of Inuvik ( north of Canada) from June onwards. As a travel blogger, this destination is very interesting, mainly due to the Midnight sun at this time of year. However, wifi availability is a real concern. Of course I donโ€™t expect to find coworking spaces but wifi is an essential work tool for us. Any experiences ?

How is Vilnius, Lithuania for digital nomads like?

in Vilnius , Lithuania by @jasonmwomack 9yr 9 years ago  | 5 comments

I can potentially obtain Lithuanian citizenship from my great grandparents , f I can find the correct documents. I seek to obtain dual citizenship (Lithuania , USA) . I have been discussing my options with legal experts . If I am unable to receive dual citizenship , I would not be opposed to the 5 year residence permit in Lithuania. This option was mentioned in various emails. I am curious. What is Vilnius like ? Has anyone experienced the Lithuanian tech scene?

What does your ideal nomad live/work space look like?

by @rand0mn0mad 9yr 9 years ago  | 10 comments

So, long story short, weโ€™re going to be building a place from scratch near a beach in the southeast atlantic coast of the US and we expect to have lots of fellow techie and entrepreneur guests, so weโ€™re gathering their suggestions and designing for them, to start with. However, thatโ€™s only a few dozen opinions. Since we would like to expand the circle and host host other digital nomads, individually or in small groupsโ€ฆ your opinions would be fantastic to have as well. Be assured that they will be a part of the โ€œwish listโ€ that goes to the architects.

So if you were building a space from scratch can you tell us these sorts of things:

  • How would you describe your ideal nomad setup?
  • What features have you absolutely loved in the past?
  • What have you disliked or even hated in other โ€œnomad padsโ€ in your travels?
  • What are your deal breakers for โ€œwould never stay thereโ€?
  • What are your โ€œnice to havesโ€?
  • How should it be set up to accommodate both individuals and
    groups?
  • If โ€œfeaturesโ€ were to be built over time, what would you
want to see built first? (i.e. would it kill anyone if surfboard
storage racks were not built the first year? or whateverโ€ฆ)
  • Do you prefer shared rooms or individual rooms or a mix?
  • If shared, are there ways to make that more comfortable? Such as โ€œpartial wallsโ€ or screens? Or do you not care at all?
  • Is there anything that would โ€œblow your mindโ€ or really make your
stay greatโ€ฆ whatโ€™s on your โ€œwish listโ€? (ok, within reason,
    thereโ€™s a sensible budget, lol)
  • Do eco features matter to you? Would you enjoy your stay more if you knew your power was solar?
  • Are there any โ€œhouse rulesโ€ that are โ€œmust havesโ€ for you? Is there any way we can build things to specifically help/encourage adherence to those? (e.g. โ€œthere was always a battle for outlets so do thisโ€ฆโ€ โ€œhereโ€™s a picture of X place I stayed, they put the damn hotub right next to my room, it sucked, move it 30 feet away please!โ€)
  • Anything weโ€™ve missed?

Please be as specific as you wish, since we wonโ€™t be retrofitting an existing spaceโ€ฆ weโ€™ve got the freedom to make it as close to โ€œidealโ€ as budget and time allow.

Your suggestions will matter, a lot.
